Cassidy & Jacob

March 18th, 2018

All of my weddings are special to me – my couples become like family to me and my team. It’s something else when your couple is literally family!

My brother-in-law married his love Cassidy, and I gained another sister on a gorgeous October day in the mountains of Tennessee. Firefly Lane offered the perfect backdrop for them to say I do. While this was a destination wedding for us, and long-distance planning, it all came together and made my team and I fall in love with doing destination weddings.

Watching Jacob fall in love with Cassidy made being a part of their wedding day even more special. According to him, when he was at my and my husband’s wedding, he realized he missed Cassidy, which is the sweetest full circle.

I’ve always said that if I ever open a venue, it HAS to have a pretty white chapel. From the moment I visited the venue, I was obsessed. From the open-air concept, gorgeous wooden pews, and arched windows at the back, every detail was perfectly thought out by the owners.

For her flowers, Cassidy chose a fall pallet, fill of pretty creams, blushes, and pops of maroon. This was the only wedding I can say the bride got to watch me create her bouquet. No pressure, right?

For our travel from Athens to Nashville, we arrived at 7 am to pick up our flowers and packed them tightly in boxes, with the stems wrapped in wet paper towels and on ice. I was thrilled when even the dahlias arrives and were happy!

Firefly lane has the cutest bridal suite and the manliest groom’s suite. Jacob hung out with his guys until it was time to put on his navy suit and tweed vest.

And Cassidy’s dress – it was seriously made perfectly for her. Oh, and it had pockets. I had the honor of putting in her veil, which was her something borrowed from me! The detailing on it matched both of our styles, and I definitely teared up a little bit.

You talk about a group of cheerleaders – Cassidy’s bridesmaids were hyping her up all day long. Their first look was nothing but pure excitement to see their friend get married.

Okay, is she not the prettiest bride?? The detailing on her dress was breathtaking.

Jacob is pure joy. He and his guys were laughing all day long!

Cassidy and Jacob opted to have a First Moment in lieu of a First Look, where they read letters from one another. The wooden doors at the front of the chapel made for the best spot. But, I mean, would it be the perfect moment if the groom wasn’t messed with a little bit?

Okay, but for real now:

Then Jacob said a prayer over their wedding and their future together. I wasn’t crying, you were…

As the guests arrived and found their seats, we made sure all of the details were in place for the ceremony. Also, there was a puppy, who will make and appearance again later.

Also, peep the CUTEST Ring Bearer and Flower Girl you’ve ever seen:

The doors closed, and we got Cassidy situated. Moment of truth here, I cry when I send all of my brides down the aisle. I can’t help it, because 1. Weddings, amiright? 2. We plan together for months for this moment and 3. She was becoming my sister, which I explained to the venue manager who was helping me open the doors because I UGLY sobbed. But hey, so did Jacob. His reaction was the sweetest, and I love his best friend watching him watch his bride come down the aisle.

Also, random side note, that handsome groomsmen, second to the right, is my husband, Josh!

If you can’t tell, we were all very excited.

Also, I promised more puppy – so here you go:

The photographer, Savannah, whisked Cassidy + Jacob away for their pictures, and I’m just going to leave them right here because wow. So gorgeous.

For their tables, we brought in some of our favorite elements, keeping it simple, yet so elegant and reflective of the couple. From the vintage chalices for the cocktail hour tables, to antique candlesticks lining a table full of garland, the space was inviting and intimate for their guests.

For dessert, Cassidy + Jacob chose their favorites – donuts, little mini Bunt cakes, and wedding cake.

Their reception was a PARTY. After guest enjoyed classic barbeque, they hit the dance floor. The whole #owlcoteam even busted a move.

They chose to have their grand getaway from the chapel. Nothing beats a good ol’ fashioned sparkler getaway!

Cassidy + Jacob, thank you for entrusting me + my team with your wedding day. I always look back on it with such fondness and miss you guys so much! (thanks a lot, COVID – it’s been well over a year!)

P.S. To all future brides and their moms, I’m always there to pass off a tissue when needed.

“I cannot express enough my gratitude to the Oakwood Lace and Co team for helping make my wedding day the wedding of my dreams. Danielle and her team were so kind, professional, and did everything in their power to make sure that our wedding day went off without a hitch! If you’re booking Oakwood I highly recommend you have them do your flowers! My flowers were by far one of my favorite parts about our wedding decor and Danielle is so knowledgeable about floral design and what looks good. She made sure that all of the little details that can stress you out on your wedding day were taken care of and she made me feel like I could just enjoy the day with my husband to be. If you’re on the fence about hiring Oakwood Lace and co, just do it! You will be so thankful that you did!” – Cassidy

“Danielle and her team were absolutely phenomenal to work with on my daughter’s wedding. She handled everything from the venue to the catering to the flowers and all the details in between to make the day absolutely perfect. It isn’t easy planning a wedding from another state but Oakwood Lace + Co made everything a breeze and such a pleasant experience. We even had a last minute panic with the officiant and Danielle not only handled it but put this mother’s mind at ease. I would definitely recommend them to anyone planning a wedding.” – Missy, Mother of the Bride
