Amelia & John

A garden party in the famous Georgia Theatre? Yes ma'am, we are there. When Amelia asked me to do the florals for her + John's wedding, I was not only honored, I was pumped to take on the task of bringing her vision to life. Amelia is family - her mother is my godmother, making Amelia my godsister, and Amelia is the godmother to my little girl!
With the most gorgeous color palette of blush, blue, bright pinks, corals, yellows, and lavender, we took on the task of transforming a concert venue into a space fit for a garden wedding. From the blue patterned linens, to lining the stage with florals, to wrapping railing with green vines to building a custom wall, the end result was a win in my book.
Their ceremony took place in Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Downtown Athens, which was so special because her grandmother and mother were also married there. Her grandmother painted the church for the envelope liner, giving her invitation suite such a personal touch. Her brother, Braden (who is part of the OWLCO team!) has called Amelia YaYa since he was a baby, and gifted her a bracelet with her nickname. First looks are always so special, but Amelia's first look with her dad and Braden still has us crying. Their ceremony was beautiful, and John getting chocked up when he saw Amelia walking down the aisle got us, too.
One design challenge was to create a welcoming (and aesthetically pleasing) first impression for the wedding guests when they first walk into the Georgia Theatre. Normally, the back of the sound booth is the first thing you see, which for a concert is totally fine - for a wedding, not so much. Using some of our sign bases with new inserts, we were able to install an 8 foot tall by 10 foot wide wall, with greenery lattices on each side (because, garden!) and their wedding crest on the center panel. Because the entryway is typically a little darker, I felt it needed something else, so we made a last minute decision to add lighting, which is honestly my favorite part.
The reception was a blast, with Emerald Empire Band giving us the wedding concert experience, a packed dance floor, and even some crowd surfing from the Groom. Being family, we also got to dress up and attend the wedding, jump on the dancefloor, and celebrate with our people. We will truly never get over this day.
